Dan LaCosta

.

Dan is the owner and head coach of Dan LaCosta’s Varsity Goaltending, and brings 10+ years of elite level coaching and playing experience.  After a 4 year stint in the OHL with the Owen Sound Attack and Barrie Colts, Dan was signed by the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets.  After his time in the OHL, Dan went on to spend the next 4 seasons as a member of the Blue Jackets organization, playing games for their ECHL/AHL/NHL clubs.  During his goaltending career, Dan was extremely fortunate to work under the well respected goalie coaches Piero Greco, Rick Wamsley and Clint Malarchuck.

Once Dan’s contract with Columbus expired, he decided to go back to school and suit up for the UNB Varsity Reds.  During his 2 seasons there, the team would go on to win 2 AUS Championships along with a CIS National Championship.  Dan has been running DLVG for the last 5 years and is the current goalie coach of the UNB Varsity Reds.  Dan is married and he and his wife have a son together.  He holds BBA and MBA degrees, and when he’s not coaching goaltenders he works full time within CIBC’s commercial banking division in Fredericton.

Frank Leblanc

.

Frank has extensive experience in both coaching and playing the goaltending position.  After a successful 4 year career in the QMJHL with the Laval Titan, Frank made the move to Fredericton to play for the UNB Varsity Reds.  During his time at UNB, Frank earned his degree along with CIS All-Canadian honours.  Upon graduating from UNB, Frank went on to play 5 years professionally in North America, France, and Germany.

As a coach, Frank brings 20+ years of elite level goaltending knowledge, and ran the DLVG Winter Program in 2013-2014 while Dan was playing overseas.  Frank’s worked extensively with world renowned goalie guru Francois Allaire in the past, and was the former goalie coach of the UNB Varsity Reds.  Currently, Frank is married with 3 kids and works as an Investment Advisor with RBC Dominion Securities in Fredericton.

Reg Bourcier

.

A new addition to the DLVG coaching staff, Reg brings an unrivalled amount of knowledge in both the on and off-ice components of the goaltending position.  Reg had a very successful 3 year junior career in the OHL with the Bellville Bulls and Kitchener Rangers.  Upon completing his junior hockey, Reg went on to to have a very successful tenure with the UNB Varsity Reds hockey program.  During his 5 years with UNB, Reg would go on to win 1st and 2nd team CIS All-Canadian honours along with winning AUS and CIS national championships.  Reg also has professional hockey experience in the ECHL/AHL/NHL.

After graduating from UNB, Reg would go on to open his own goalie school and coach professionally with the Lewiston Maniacs of the QMJHL and UNB Varsity Reds.  After a very successful tenure in the hockey industry as a player, Reg decided to take a step back from hockey and take his passions for fitness and coaching to pursue a full time career in the fitness industry.  While Reg’s primary focus is on developing the athletic base of DLVG goaltenders off the ice, he does help out with the on-ice sessions as well.  Reg holds a degree in Kinesiology from UNB and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. Reg is married with 3 kids and is the owner of Athletic One training centre, the official gym of DLVG.

Tyler Piercy

.

Tyler’s a former student of the DLVG program, and has been a top-quality coach with us for the last 3 years.  A former MHL champion with the Woodstock Slammers, Tyler brings 3 years of junior hockey experience (MHL/QMJHL) along with 3 years of AUS experience as a member of the STU Tommies program.

A Certified Personal Trainer, Tyler currently is working with Athletic One as a personal trainer while he finishes up his degree at St. Thomas.  A former 8th round pick of the Lewiston Maniacs of the QMJHL and graduate of the FYHA, Tyler brings a wealth of knowledge of both the on and off-ice components of the goaltending position.

Jonny Waye

.

Jonny’s a key member to the coaching staff at DLVG, and brings 5+ years of junior (MHL/QMJHL) experience as a player.  A graduate of the FYHA and Fredericton Canadians Midget ‘AAA’ program,  Jonny’s been involved with several top-notch goalie schools in the region and is currently the goalie coach for the Fredericton Midget ‘AAA’ Caps.

Jonny is a former 5th round pick of the PEI Rocket of the QMJHL, and has been the 3rd string goalie for the UNB Varsity reds for the last few seasons.  Currently Jonny is finishing up his final semester within the UNB Engineering faculty and will graduate in the spring.

Ben MacFarlane

.

Ben brings 4 years of QMJHL and 3 years of AUS experience to the coaching staff as a former member of the Shawinigan Cataracts, Rimouski Oceanic, and St. Thomas Tommies hockey programs.  Ben is currently involved with the FYHA working with some goaltenders in the Atom division, and has been a reliable member of the DLVG staff since the programs inception.

Ben is a graduate of the Woodstock Slammers program, along with a former representative for New Brunswick as a member of Hockey NB and Team Atlantic through Hockey Canada’s program of excellence.  Ben is married with 2 kids, holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from St. Thomas, an MBA from UNB, and is working towards his CFA designation.  Ben currently works for the New Brunswick Investment Analyst Corporation as an Equity Analyst.

Danny Lynch

.

Danny has been involved with the DLVG coaching staff since the programs inception 5 years ago, and brings a unique skill set.  A former Bio-Medical Engineer, Danny is now involved in the hockey industry full time.  Danny has a wide range of coaching experience, and has been heavily involved in both the FYHA and UNB V-reds minor hockey programs.

Danny is currently working full time as the video coach for both the UNB Varsity Reds Men’s Hockey program of the AUS and the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL.  A well respected video coach, Danny has also been involved with Hockey Canada as a member of their Men’s sledge hockey coaching staff.
